How can physio help with my pain?
Physiotherapy can help you understand your pain (understanding and knowledge lessens fear) which can empower you to get back to the things you enjoy. Using exercise to improve things such as flexibility, strength and general health can be beneficial to your quality of life, happiness and self efficacy.

Can physio cause more pain?
This is certainly not the aim! However, every rehab plan for injury or pain will involve good and bad days and weeks. The important thing is not to panic, have a plan and stick to it.

Can physio help with sciatica or nerve pain?
Sciatica is a pain felt in the back of your leg and can travel as far as the foot. This can be an indicator of a lower back injury, or stress upon the nerves that travel from your spine to your toes. A thorough physiotherapy assessment and treatment is often effective in settling these symptoms, in addition to time.

Can physio help after surgery?
Orthopaedic surgeons often work closely with physiotherapists to help with recovery after surgery. An experienced physiotherapist can help you return safely to daily activities, walking, running and sport. Make sure you are aware of any limitations you have been given after surgery, and try to have this written to provide to your physiotherapist.

Do I need a referral to see a physio?
Simple answer is no, you do not need a referral to see a physio. You could walk-in off the street and access a physiotherapy session. However, if you have a DVA Gold or Silver card, or if you are wanting to access a medicare subsidised session for a chronic condition, you will need a referral from your general practitioner (GP).

Can physio help with back pain?
Yes, most certainly yes! Physiotherapists have extensive training at university, and Mick at PhysioPM has years of experience in the assessment and management of lower and mid back pain, as well as neck pain.
